FYI - FILM YOUR ISSUE is an unprecedentednational competition, with major partners, and George Clooney and Philip Seymour Hoffman among the VIP Judges, inviting all American residents 18 to 26 year olds to create a 30-to-60 second "issue film" on any issue – as well as suggested special categories with additional presentation platforms.

Two finalists will be offered paid internships at Paramount Pictures and The Walt Disney Company. Six finalists will be flown to NYC for an awards ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters, along with their faculty advisor (where applicable), in late 2006. Finalists will also be flown to Park City, Utah for festival season 2007, where they and their entries will be presented by MSN Spaces at a private reception. Finalist entries will be broadcast on mtvU, MSN Video, MSNBC.com, and presented at the Maui Film Festival.

National “ISSUE FILM” COMPETITION for young Americans (18-26). Create 30-60 second films, commercials, animation or music video about a social issue that you care about.

FYI - FILM YOUR ISSUE is an unprecedented national competition, with major partners, and George Clooney and Philip Seymour Hoffman among the VIP Judges, inviting all American residents 18 to 26 year olds to create a 30-to-60 second "issue film" on any social issue – as well as suggested special categories with additional presentation platforms.
 
As part of the registration process, all entrants will submit a 30-60-second film, commercial, music video or animation about their chosen social issues - and blog about these issues on MSN Spaces.  Register and enter on www.filmyourissue.com!
 
Top winners will be awarded the following prizes: 
  • One paid internship at The Walt Disney Company. 
  • Six finalists will be flown to NYC for an Awards Ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters, along with their faculty advisor (where applicable), on June 19, 2006.
  • MSN Spaces* will sponsor round-trip flight and accomodations for the top finalists to attend the Sundance Film Festival on January 2007, where they and their entries will be presented by MSN Spaces* at a private reception.
  • Finalist entries will be broadcast on mtvU, MSN Video, MSNBC.com, MSN Spaces*, and presented at the Maui Film Festival.
  • Finalists will also receive a Motorola RAZR V3 mobile phones and a Toshiba Qosmio laptops.

The competition's partners and sponsors are MSN Spaces, MSN Video, MSNBC, Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, MTV, The United Nations, The Humane Society of the U.S., Paramount Pictures, The Walt Disney Company, ASCAP, Maui Film Festival, Vail Film Festival, and numerous leading academic institutions.
 
We want to open public dialogue to young Americans to share what issue burns for you, locally and internationally.  Additionally, there are suggested categories: animal welfare ....  how the arts can help bridge cultures and countries .... the global anti-poverty UN millennium development goals .... music-driven, using music to express the issue, with a singer/ songwriter, band or music-style video .... and Integrating Film and New Media, where entrants are judged on the best integration of your film and the best use of the features of MSN Spaces (such as blogging & photo albums) to promote and advocate your social issue.
 
  • The top finalists will be presented at a panel at the United Nations. 
  • The Arts-Bridge finalists are being presented to opinion leaders in Washington, D.C., by USC Center for Public Diplomacy. 
  • The top music performer, solo or band, will be showcased at Park City, Utah during festival season 2007 by ASCAP. The top finalists will be in a showcase during Grammy week in Los Angeles, by ASCAP. 
  • Top animal welfare category finalists will be posted on the website of The Humane Society of the United States. 
  • MSN Spaces will reward the top ten finalists for most effectively presenting issues integrating film, blogging and other MSN Spaces features, to advocate for their social issue.
 
The VIP Judges  include George Clooney, Walter Cronkite, Senator Barack Obama, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Anderson Cooper, Brian Williams, former UN Assistant Secretary-General Gillian Sorensen, and O The Oprah Magazine Editor in Chief Amy Gross.
